"Le Figaro" wrote of Stanislav Bunin's playing during the Marguerite Long International Pianists Competition of 1983: "His performance of Schumann's 'Kreisleriana' and Mozart's 23rd Concerto seemed to us like a happy moment, like an encounter with perfection". French critics called the young pianist who won the Grand Prix at this challenging competition "the most interesting musical individuality". "From the first piece by Schumann which I performed the composer became very dear to me., - says Bunin. - I played many of his works: "Kreisleriana", "Arabesques", "Blumenstuck"... I believe Schumann's music presents the pianist with all the colors, musical possibilities of piano: his music is not only varied, it is surprisingly multi-colored..."
Two years later Stanislav Bunin, beaing a student of the Moscow Conservatory, won the first prize at the Chopin International Pianists Competition in Warsaw.  Critics wrote that "Chopin's world is close to the pianist.  His playing manner is extremely noble, tender, fiery; it is inspired and elegant.
